The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part One

The aim of a Backgammon match is to shift your chips around the Backgammon board and bear those pieces from the game board quicker than your challenger who works just as hard to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a game in Backgammon requires both tactics and fortune. Just how far you will be able to shift your chips is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and how you shift your checkers are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Enthusiasts use a number of tactics in the different stages of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Technique

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your checkers into your home board and get them off as quickly as you can. This technique focuses on the pace of moving your checkers with little or no time spent to hit or block your opponent’s pieces. The ideal scenario to use this strategy is when you think you might be able to shift your own pieces a lot faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the game board; 2) all your checkers have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The main aim of the blocking technique, by the title, is to block the opponent’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about moving your chips rapidly. Once you have established the blockage for your opponent’s movement with a few chips, you can shift your other chips swiftly from the game board. You will need to also have an apparent strategy when to extract and move the chips that you used for blocking. The game gets interesting when the competitor uses the same blocking technique.
