The Basics of Backgammon Strategies – Part One
The objective of a Backgammon match is to shift your pieces around the Backgammon board and bear those pieces off the board faster than your opponent who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a match in Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and luck. Just how far you will be able to move your pieces is up to the numbers from tossing the dice, and how you shift your chips are decided on by your overall playing plans. Players use a few techniques in the different parts of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Tactic
The aim of the Running Game tactic is to entice all your checkers into your inner board and bear them off as quick as you can. This plan focuses on the pace of shifting your chips with absolutely no efforts to hit or stop your opponent’s chips. The best scenario to use this plan is when you believe you can shift your own checkers a lot faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the board; 2) all your checkers have past your opponent’s checkers; or 3) your opposing player does not employ the hitting or blocking plan.
The Blocking Game Plan
The primary goal of the blocking strategy, by its title, is to stop your opponent’s chips, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your checkers rapidly. Once you’ve created the barrier for the opponent’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can shift your other checkers swiftly from the board. The player will need to also have a good strategy when to withdraw and shift the chips that you utilized for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when the opposition utilizes the same blocking strategy.
