The Essential Details of Backgammon Strategies – Part 2

[ English ]

As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to shift your chips carefully around the board to your inner board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move her pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your game board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get to roll the dice, that means you move your chips and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to better your chances of winning, however the Back Game technique uses seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is frequently utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
